ORA Red Planet: It is a tabling Acropora with red and pink corallites and a metallic green base. Polyp coloration on this coral is a deep red and the new growth is light pink to white. Under intense lighting the coral may lose the attractive green coloration, it will return if the coral is moved to a lower light area.

Ecoxotic 48" Stunner Strip light Review: Overall I'm really impressed with the look of the lights. I'm not really sure if they provide much light for growth, but they do make the tank look cool when the lights are out. the blue/Magenta look creates a pink shimmer over my LPS corals.

Trachyphyllia Brain Eating: I fed this Trachyphyllia brain some pellets. Normally I feed it Mysis shrimp.

Hippo Tang: My Hippo Tang is easily my favorite fish in the tank. He is constantly posing for a picture or begging for food. While generally reef safe my Hippo has been caught eating my acan corals. I have since moved all my Acans to my reserve tank.

Neon Orange Mushroom: This neon orange mushroom is insanely bright. I'm not sure where it comes from, but it's the brightest mushroom I have seen. I would like to have these spread all over my tank like some of the green stripped and red mushrooms have.

This is one of my favorite corals, because of it's unique color. These corals originate from the Indo-Pacific region. They have a hardy appetite and I have read that they can even eat small fish, but they would have to be really small fish.

Fish Eye Lens

I have a fish eye lens for work and I thought it would be a good idea to try it out on my tank. The fish eye lens give you 180 degree shot. I have used mine in the past to make 360 degree virtual tours.

You can see a few on my other site www.virtuallydivine.com To make a virtual tour you use software to stitch the two 180 degree images.

90 Gallon Mixed Reef

This is my 90 gallon Reef Tank with Wet/dry filter, T5 current nova extreme pro and aqua c 180 skimmer. This tank started as a 20 gallon fish only tank and was then moved to a 75 gallon tank. I slowly collected corals, by purchasing coral frags off of people on craigslist. I also frequently trade corals with other reefers.

60 Gallon Tank Sep 26, 2011: I decided to remove some of the Frag racks from the tank and go for a more natural approach. I also had a bit of a hair algae problem it became difficult to remove it from the frag racks. The tank has become easier to clean. I also put in a smaller return pump with lower wattage.

90 Gallon Reef Tank Jan. 13, 2009: 90 gallon Reef Tank with Wet/dry filter, T5 current nova extreme pro and aqua c 180 skimmer. Current bulb combination from front to back is 4 Blue+, 50/50 White, and a GE 6500k.

90 Gallon Reef Tank Oct. 2009: 90 Gallon after I moved everything over from the 75 gallon tank. It's interesting for me to see the tank growth over time.

60 Gallon Frag Tank: I built this tank to house some of my extra coral from my 90 gallon tank. Some coral just seems to be happier in this tank. LPS is very happy in this tank. Dimensions are 48x24x12. I also put a lot of the extra rocks from my 90 gallon into this tank. Now I just need to figure out a way to get rid of this coral.

90 March 30, 2011: In this update I changed a significant amount of things in the tank. I removed half of the rock in the tank. I wasn't getting enough flow and I had to remove soft corals that were becoming a problem in my tank. Xenia, Start Polyps and mushrooms were encrusting over my SPS. I also wanted to create more flow and space for the fish. The fish seemed to be happy immediatly.

90 Reef Oct. 4 2010

Bristle Worm Spawning: My brother noticed a huge cloud in the tank one day. I saw an absolutely enormous bristle worm slithering around a rock and spawning. Although I realize I must have a healthy population of worms in my tank I haven't had any problems with them so far other than stinging my finger. If you accidently touch a bristle worm it will leave tons of small fiberglass like splinters in your finger.

Vortech MP 10

I was lucky enough to find this pump used. I have the original model, but it still has most of the features. I was using a Hydor Koralia 3 and wasn't happy with the flow on my frag tank. This pump is awesome and fun to mess with the settings. The varied flow allow me to see my coral from the top of the tank. Before the koralia created too much constant flow to allow me to see anything on the surface of the water.

Update

- the dry side of the pump started making a lot of noise, so I went back to my Koralia 3. The koralia 3 is silent compared to the vortech. I like to use the koralia to clean the bottom of my bare bottom tank as well.

NP Biopellets Test: My new tank experiment is with NP biopellets. The objective of using these was to get my Nitrates and Phosphates down to close to zero. I had some problems with cyano and I needed to clean the glass daily. I use the Generic API and Red Sea tests kits, so I can only tell you that my levels were on the high side. I've been a little too cheap to buy the Salifert kits!
